Dr. Alyxandria Danger, OD

Dr. Alyxandria Danger, OD is a primary care Optometrist providing comprehensive eye care by integrating a modern medical model to our practice. She obtained her BS in Zoology and Physiology in her home state from the University of Wyoming in 2007. She then received her Doctor of Optometry degree from Pacific University of Oregon in 2011.

She has practiced in Anchorage, Alaska for most of her career but spent a year as a civilian optometrist on the 32nd naval base in San Diego prior to starting her family with her husband, Tommy. Once they had their first daughter they traveled all over the world with purpose. During COVID, when their second daughter arrived, they slowed down their travels and after some time decided to move 5200 miles from the arctic to the beach. Outside of Optometry she spends her time hiking, biking, running, camping and adventuring outdoors. She is enthusiastic to be enjoying the sunny skies of Myrtle Beach.

Dr. Neil Kawaguchi

Neil Kawaguchi, O.D. received his Doctor of Optometry in 2023 from Arizona College of Optometry at Midwestern University in Phoenix, AZ. He received his undergraduate degree in biology from Washington State University in Vancouver, WA. 

Dr. Neil began practicing optometry in Missoula, Montana in 2023 and relocated to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in 2024, where he joined Vaught Eye Associates. He got his start in the optometric field as an optician in the US Navy in 2012. During his time in the Navy, Dr. Neil developed a passion for both optometry and caring for patients. He strives to bring that passion into clinic every day.  

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Neil enjoys hiking and spending time with his wife, kids, and dogs. 

Dr. Heather Vaught

Heather Vaught, OD, is a Conway native and second-generation optometrist. She graduated from Coastal Carolina University before earning her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Class of 2017.

Dr. Vaught proudly serves as President of the Waccamaw Chapter of the South Carolina Optometric Association and is dedicated to advancing eye care in her community. Outside of optometry, she enjoys traveling, hiking, attending live music events, caring for her plants, and, most of all, spending time with her husband and their two children.

Dr. James Dylan Vaught

Dr. Dylan James Vaught is a Conway native and a second-generation optometrist. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Coastal Carolina University before completing his Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2012. Dedicated to providing exceptional eye care, Dr. Vaught has carried on his family’s tradition of serving the community with compassion and expertise.

Beyond his professional work, Dr. Vaught enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. An outdoor enthusiast, he can often be found hiking, exploring new trails, and staying active. He is also an avid Formula One fan, enjoying the thrill and strategy of the sport.

Dr. Garett M. Wise

Working at Vaught Eye Associates allows me to treat patients with the utmost quality, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment. I manage my patients as if they are one of my parents sitting in the exam chair. ﹣Dr. Wise

Dr. Garett Wise received his undergraduate degree in Biology from The University of South Carolina. Afterward he worked as an optician for three years. He went on to earn his Bachelors of Vision Science and Doctorate of Optometry from NOVA Southeastern University of Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Externships included Tianjin Eye Hospital in Tianjin, China, and Dzilth-Na-O-Dith-Hle Navajo Health Center of Bloomfield, New Mexico. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and SC Optometric Association.

Dr. Ed Weiner, OD

Dr. Ed Weiner received his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from North Carolina State University before earning his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1989. He has proudly served patients at Vaught Eye Associates for more than 35 years, building trusted relationships and providing comprehensive eye care to the community.

Dr. Weiner practices full-scope optometry, offering a wide range of services to meet the diverse needs of his patients. He remains actively involved in his profession as a member of both the South Carolina Optometric Physicians Association and the American Optometric Association.

Dr. James M. Vaught, OD

A Conway native, Dr. James M. Vaught is a proud graduate of Furman University and the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry, Class of 1983. Throughout his career, Dr. Vaught has played a pivotal role in advancing the scope of optometry in South Carolina, particularly through his leadership in expanding therapeutic privileges for optometrists during the 1990s.

He has served in numerous local and state leadership positions with the South Carolina Optometric Physicians Association, earning multiple honorary distinctions and awards that recognize his dedication to the profession. Dr. Vaught’s influence extends beyond organized optometry—he has remained actively involved in his local community and continues to serve on various boards of optometry, where his guidance has helped shape the future of the field.

Outside of his professional life, Dr. Vaught treasures time with his large family, which includes his five children and twenty-three grandchildren. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoys spending his free time immersed in nature.
