Not only do eyeglasses correct defects in vision but they are also available in an exciting variety of stylish custom frames that enhance your individuality and sense of fashion. After our eye doctors examine the physical condition of your eyes and tests vision acuity through a series of standardized vision tests, you can choose from hundreds of different frame styles and colors, from practical and economical to high-end, designer frames branded with iconic names such as Gucci, Vera Wang and Bongo.
Because Vaught Eye Associates houses an onsite optical laboratory staffed with qualified technicians, your new prescription eyeglasses start their development almost as soon as your examination is completed. In fact, most eyeglasses purchased at our office are completed and ready to wear within one hour to one day of submitting a prescription to our laboratory technicians.

Visual acuity is determined by having patients undergo several tests that measure the ability of the eyes to see images at a distance, up close and in the periphery. Common vision tests include:
Snellen Eye Chart–this is the most familiar test and is recognized as the chart with the large “E” positioned at the top, followed by additional alphabetic letters that gradually reduce in size. The Snellen Eye Chart gives a Conway eye doctor the fractionized measurement of your vision with which we are all familiar.
According to how well you read a Snellen Eye chart, you may have “20/20” vision, which means you can clearly see things 20 feet away that a “normal” individual sees when viewing images 20 feet away. If your vision is judged as 20/60, then you need to be 20 feet away from the chart to view what a person with 20/20 vision sees when they are standing 60 feet away. A Snellen Eye chart fraction of 20/60 also means you are nearsighted and need corrective lenses.
Refraction tests–when your eyes have difficulty focusing (refracting) the light rays that reach the retinal area of the eyes, you may be diagnosed with nearsightedness or farsightedness. Our Conway eye doctor will give you refraction tests that can determine whether your eyeglasses should be fitted with lenses to correct one of these vision problems.
Before patients leave with their new eyeglasses, we make sure they fit properly and comfortably by making professional adjustments as well as any adjustments requested by the patient.
